"How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes ..."
Pastor and author John Piper once said, "God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may only be aware of three of them." His statement rings true today as we look back on the past 43 years of our nation's history since the infamous Roe. v. Wade Supreme Court decision and ask, "How long, O Lord, until the laws of our land completely uphold the dignity of every unborn life?" Although we long for that day, we can take hold of Dr. Piper's words and apply them to America: God is doing 10,000 things in [our nation's history], and [we] may only be aware of three of them. God is not absent. He is on the move, both visibly and invisibly.
Recently, IFA received a beautiful letter from an intercessor, and his words made our hearts leap and our eyes "enlighten" (Psalm 13:3). He gave us a glimpse of these 10,000 things God is doing through the prayers of His saints:
FROM BOB O'CONNOR JR, December 18, 2015
I had a remarkable "divine appointment" several years ago. I participated in a three-day fast, which was a first for me. Following the fast, I was certain the Lord was going to end abortion in America, and soon. After all, He owed us, right? (Tongue in cheek.) However, as time went by, and nothing seemed to change with the status quo, I wondered, and kept wondering, if God had moved anything. The wondering persisted until about 2007. I was at a dance and, by divine happenstance, met the former wife of Bernard Nathanson. Dr. Nathanson founded the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) and was personally responsible for 75,000 abortions. During the course of our conversation, "Jane" (real name withheld) informed me that she had been married to Bernard and that he had been ... converted to Christ. Thereafter, Dr. Nathanson became as zealous for the pro-life movement as he had been for the pro-abortion movement. He produced such documentaries as "The Silent Scream" in 1984. After Jane told me her story, and after having wondered for about 27 years, I heard the Lord telling me that He had heard our prayers of years ago, and answered, and is answering!
A phrase from C.S. Lewis' allegorical Christian novel, The Chronicles of Narnia, is often repeated by Narnia fans in moments like this: "Aslan is on the move." Aslan, of course, is the great lion who is the rightful king of Narnia and a symbol of Jesus Christ. While Narnia is shrouded in cold and ice under the spell of the White Witch, true Narnians believe that Aslan has not forgotten them and is prowling behind the scenes, watchful over creation.
Take heart! Since the word of God is "alive and active" and "sharper than any double-edged sword," how much more so is this an indication of our very living and active God who is on the prowl, discerning the thoughts and intentions of men? (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)

About the artwork: The nation of Colombia wishes to be known for its protection of the unborn. As such, Colombia commissioned a carving in a rocky hillside between Santo Domingo, Savio, and Medellín. Imagine if America (known for Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse) would do the same! In Luke 19:40, Jesus reminded His disciples, "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out."
