Capital Care of Toledo is under new leadership and is now the Toledo Women's Center (https://toledoabortioncenter.com/welcome/). The new owner is believed to be Dr. David Burkons, who has had multiple violations against him that Foundation for Life has reported on in the past.
After being closed for seven weeks, abortions will be resuming at the newly branded Toledo Women's Center.
Though we would have preferred that there would be no more abortions here, there are some encouraging takeaways. If it had been open, nearly 200 babies would have been aborted at this location over the past seven weeks. These women were given additional time to consider a decision they likely made in haste. Some portion of them will have subsequently chosen life. Let's thank the Lord that these women have been spared the tragic results of abortion and now have a child that will fill their lives with love. Pray for them and that they reach out for any help they may need.
Businesses don't just shut down for seven weeks to shuffle around their personnel and make relatively minor changes in ownership—patients scheduled for appointments would show up for the appointment only to find the business closed. We can only speculate on the reasons; we can and should pray that the reasons, whatever they are, continue to be a problem that results in another closing in the not distant future.
Another new development is the introduction of Zoom appointments. They will have patients going to the abortion mill for consultation and ultrasound, just as before, for their first visit.
The patient will have the option of coming back for a second visit, where they will take the first set of pills and be given the 2nd set of pills to take home, to take in about 48 hours. This process is just as before. (Within this 48 hr period, they can opt for Abortion Pill Reversal.)
Or they can opt for a Zoom meeting in place of a second visit. That visit takes place from wherever they are. They make this choice and pay for it in full before leaving from the first visit. There is an additional $100 charged, beyond the cost of an abortion that requires them to return.
Under this option, before leaving from their first visit, they are given a lockbox that can be opened remotely at the ZOOM meeting. The section containing the first pills to be taken would be opened remotely at the ZOOM meeting. Then, presumably, the second section would be remotely opened about 48 hours later.
Until offering the option of the ZOOM second visit, a third visit was included in the cost of the abortion. The purpose was to get a consultation and possible second ultrasound to ensure the abortion was complete and avoid infection. At the second visit, the patient is told to go to an ER if they have a complication and tell them they had a miscarriage. Symptoms and treatment are the same, and insurance coverage is the same as if it were a miscarriage. This third visit is not mentioned in the description of how a ZOOM visit works. It might be covered during the ZOOM call.
It appears a patient who pays $100 extra to not return for the second visit will not then return for a third visit. If she has any concern at all, she should go to the ER. This is a problem for the general public since ERs are already backed up because of a "pandemic".
Your prayers and presence on the sidewalks outside of the Toledo Women's Center (formally Capital Care) location are necessary to make this happen. Please come whenever you can.
The schedule for the next two weeks is:
Wednesday January 5, 2022 9:45 AM till 3:30 PM
