On January 20, 2021, the pro-abortion Democrat leader was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. According to his advisor, Jeff Zients said it is a priority and Press Secretary Jen Psaki promised that Biden will reverse the pro-life policy re-instated by President Trump as part of the Mexico City Policy. The Mexico City Policy, established by President Ronald Reagan, traditionally gets repealed by Democrat Presidents and reinstated by Republican Presidents. It prohibits taxpayer funding to international aid groups that promote and/or do abortions. Under President Trump, this expanded policy to cut off more streams of revenue to international pro-abortion groups which defunded the International Planned Parenthood Federation of about $100 million and the British Abortion chain, MSI Reproductive Choices of about $73 million in US Tax dollars. These two pro-abortion groups received millions of American tax dollars under Obama and it is expected that they will receive millions more under Biden.
It is also expected that Biden will repeal Trump's Protect Life Rule which further defunded Planned Parenthood of $50 million more through the Title X program. Abortion activists are also pushing Biden to have the Hyde Amendment ended as well. This long-standing amendment prohibits taxpayer funding of elective abortions in Medicaid. The Hyde Amendment ending would require a vote of Congress; it could not be ended by executive order.
Putting more boys and girls in the womb at risk, President Biden has also said he plans to codify Roe v Wade into federal law so that if it would stand even if the US Supreme Court overturned the infamous decision. He also has said he would include abortion as 'essential' health care and this would force insurance companies to cover abortions.
