Prayer & Fasting for Overturning Roe & Casey
The fight to end abortion in America is a spiritual battle. That is the best way to understand the past few weeks' events – indeed, the past 50 years since the Roe v. Wade decision effectively legalized abortion on demand in all 50 states.
The rulers and powers of this present darkness are working hard to ensure legalized abortion remains the law of the land. We must respond by entering this spiritual battle with faith, courage, and love.
That's why we ask you to join believers across America in prayer and fasting over the Dobbs case. Please join in asking the Father to grant these eight specific requests.

- Pray for God the Father's mercy and forgiveness over our country for the millions of lives lost and destroyed through abortion.
- Pray for all those individuals involved in an abortion decision to find forgiveness, healing, and restoration.
- Pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will bind any evil spirits, powers, and forces seeking to keep Roe in place and defeat their wicked strategies.
- Pray for each of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices. Pray that the Holy Spirit will strengthen their minds and their wills so that they will truly understand how precious each life is and vote to overturn Roe & Casey in their Dobbs decision.
- Pray for the individual safety – spiritually, physically, and emotionally - of each Supreme Court Justice and that of their families.
- Pray, in particular, for Chief Justice John Roberts that he will be filled with the wisdom, courage, and prudence he needs to lead the court to a majority consensus to overturn Roe & Casey.
- Pray that the Supreme Court will not just decide to overturn Roe & Casey but will declare the preborn as persons, thus ending the scourge of abortion once and for all.
- Pray for the health & safety of those serving in the pro-life movement.

AN INVITATION TO PRAY AND ENGAGE Many people wish the abortion debate would just go away. They’re tired of the controversy and name-calling played out almost daily on social media. They’re turned off by harsh rhetoric and careless labels, not to mention constant political bickering. Perhaps you feel this way. You have a heart for the unborn, but have yet to act on your pro-life sentiments. You want to do something, but see only two options — pick a fight or avoid the issue in polite company! But there’s a third option--pray and engage. And get others to join in! ![]()

That we may plead for God's mercy and grace upon all those involved in the sin of abortion.
Blow the trumpet in Zion! Proclaim a fast, call an assembly. Gather the people, notify the congregation. Assemble the elders; gather the children and the infants at the breast... Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep and say, "Spare, 0 Lord, your people." — Joel 2:15-17
If you are willing to be a prayer warrior for LIFE, call 419-535-5800 and get on the list! We need God's guidance and help for the cause everyday but we also ask to be on your prayer list when there is a specific challenge or opportunity in front of us where we need intervention and support from God to make the way clear.
The toll of abortion cannot be measured. We hear estimates of almost 57 million innocent victims, but that's only one aspect of the harm that has unfolded in abortion's wake. There are also the mothers and fathers of these millions, as well as the grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins. Unborn lives destroyed. Lives of the living shattered.
It's overwhelming and depressing, but even in the midst of such unfathomable darkness, the church teaches us to have hope. Yes, it was indeed Calvary that followed Christ's 40 days in the desert, but without Calvary there would have been no Resurrection — His victory over death that opened the gates of heaven to those who believe in and follow Him.
The psalmist encourages us to go humbly before God as we seek His will: A clean heart create for me, 0 God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me... Give me back the joy of your salvation and a willing spirit sustain in me... 0 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall proclaim your praise (Psalm 51:12-17).
We are called to be God's messengers; or as the Apostle Paul wrote: We are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20).
That is the true message to all we encounter at the abortion centers and in our communities who have been deceived by the Culture of Death. We don't bring condemnation; we bring God's good news.

Daily Prayer:
Lord, we ask for the strength, courage, wisdom, determination and stamina to carry out this mission according to Your will. Guide us, we pray, as we go forth and proclaim Your truth, always doing so with a spirit of love and compassion, as was demonstrated to us through the work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, amen. Written by David Brandao, Communications Director, 40 Days for Life |
