Dr. Rosaria Butterfield
Rosaria Butterfield is a former tenured professor of English and women’s studies at Syracuse University who now serves as an author and speaker. Married to a Reformed Presbyterian pastor in North Carolina, she is also a mother and grandmother, and her life and work are shaped by her dramatic conversion to Christianity.
Rosaria pursued academia with a focus on critical and queer theory, earning her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. During her career, she was deeply involved in LGBTQ+ advocacy, advising student groups and contributing to policy efforts while living openly in a lesbian relationship.
Her life changed in 1999 after forming an unlikely friendship with a local pastor and his wife, whose hospitality and commitment to Scripture led her to read the Bible and come to faith in Christ.
Rosaria has written four books that center on her personal journey of faith, conversion, and Christian discipleship. Across her work, she explores themes of repentance, identity, hospitality as a tool for evangelism, and how Christians can faithfully respond to cultural shifts while holding to biblical truth.
